The best spots to watch the sunset in Lisbon
We are sure you’re aware of the popular saying “Lisbon has a special light”, and we couldn’t agree more! Due to the dimension of the Tejo river and the sunny days almost all year, Lisbon offers a light that everybody can enjoy. In the summertime, you can also watch the sunset in amazing places, and we know that you’ll love them just as much as we do!
So, if you’re looking for a cool place to spend some time after work or studies, here are some tips on pretty spots to watch the sunset on your own or with your friends, all accessible from Xior Residences!
1. Miradouro Nossa Senhora do Monte
Located in Graça, this viewpoint has a chapel, and from here you can see, to the south, the sea of Palha, the Castle of São Jorge, part of downtown Lisbon and the estuary of the Tejo river, to the west, from Bairro Alto to the Parque Florestal de Monsanto, and, to the north, the valley of Avenida Almirante Reis.
As it is located at the highest point of Bairro da Graça, it is one of the places with the best panoramic view of the city, especially over Mouraria and São Jorge Castle.
2. Maat Museum
This museum is located next to the Tejo river and has large stairways where you can just sit and enjoy looking at the other side of the river and watching the sunset through Tejo. You can also go to the top of the Museum and enjoy a pretty view from one of the coolest places in town!
Both options are free, that’s why a lot of people enjoy walking and chilling in that place.
3. Belem Tower Besides this is one of the most beautiful monuments that you can visit in Lisbon, the view over Tejo River and Belem Tower is just the perfect match to watch the sunset. You can go there and grab street food and sit on the grass and just relax while watching a precious moment, that we are sure that you’ll remember for a long time!
Close to it you also have Padrão dos Descobrimentos, which is also a cool spot to visit, and some gardens in front of the Mostreiro dos Jerónimos.
Overall, that zone at Restelo is one of the most amazing places to watch the sunset in Lisbon.
4. Xior Trip: go there by tram, it’s a unique experience!

At Xior Residence Benfica, you have amazing views to watch the sunset! If you live on the top floor, you must already know it, but if you don’t our advice is to ask one of your friends who live there just to check out the sunset! It’s worth the view, we assure you. Also, if you’re a resident at Xior Alvalade, you already know that the rooftop it’s an incredible place to spend the evening time and watch the sunset.
